I would like to share three of the thought provoking and still easy to understand and comprehend shlokas from Gita :

dhyayato visayan pumsah sangas tesupajayate
sangat sanjayate kamah kamat krodho ’bhijayate

TRANSLATION

While thinking over and concentrating on the objects of the senses, a person develops attachment for sense objects. From such attachment desires develops in him, and from desires anger arises.

krodhad bhavati sammohah bsammohat smriti-vibhramah
smriti-bhramsad buddhi-naso buddhi-nasat pranasyati

TRANSLATION

From anger, false beliefs arise, and from these false beliefs confusions in memory occurs. Confusion results in loss of intelligence and rationality, and when intelligence and rationality are lost, it leads to destruction of man.

TEXT 64

raga-dvesa-vimuktais tu visayan indriyais caran
atma-vasyair vidheyatma prasadam adhigacchati

Science in Vedas

I must say, when I read hindi translation of Vedas to this date, I have not been able to sort out what exactly a single Shloka is pointing to. Even the famous Nasadiya Sukta is still a big mystery for me, and I believe only those can understand the depth of Vedas, realization of Atma Tatva and Brahma Tatva. Hence , to an ordinary person like me , Vedas seem simple preachings to Indra, Vayu and Agni for betterment of society, and nothing else.

Hence at this stage, why should Indologist Max Muller be blamed if he states " I do find Vedas as mere collection of Childish Suktas ". Hence for an ordinary person like me (and Max Muller), truly Vedas are nothing other than set of childish religious Shlokas written unnecessarily in a tough language pointing to simple nature gods like air and vayu and also rain and health and also some difficult-to-understand nature gods. Then how come Vedas contain scientific knowledge.?
