Diet of rishis

Dear Sirs,

Can anyone tell me the diet of rishis?
I believe our mindset depends on our diet,I have heard of 3 types of food -tamasic,rajasic and sattwic But I want to know specifically what and how exactly rishis used to have their diet.

If possible,kindly explain how rishis daily life style used to be like?how do you think that we can live like rishis in current century?
I don't intend to be a great rishi, but I am doing a simple sadhana on Gayatri Mayya and want to do all possible things to see my mom.

Please help me.

Thank you didi for good information and enlightening me.

i was taking sweet potato (but boiled) and milk.I avoided fruits since they are sweet.Now tasteless food is no doubt creating calmness in my mind.
As you said,I guess their food used to be highly scientific and i believe they used to consume only that much energy as required for their sadhana.

i tried to eat raw sweet potato since rishis i believe used to eat raw ,but my parents told me eating that raw will create indigestion.

your quest is relatively tough, as ancient sages adopted a routine life of yogi during normal days, and there the diet include sattvik food, next what to eat during sadhna , then in my view, most of the times during there sadhna , they remain foodless, as the energy was gained from Surya and Vayu(in my view, they would have developed their bodies to such an extent that, they can gain energy diretly from solar,though this assumption seem ridicule ,but in my views, they didnt used to take a break for food, they were simply excellent yogis, and dwelling without food for them would not have been that difficult, but mean while, if needed they used to take raw food available in jungle, as we all know, they were excellent scientists, with enormous knowledge of nature, hence finding right species of plant to eat would not have been that difficult for them during sadhna,)
and in routine, they used to have sattvik food in ashram.
