Why Shiva Meditates being the almighty

SHIVA means combination of two words SHIka and VAsa combinedly meaning The one who resides in the Shika or the Sahasrarcha Chakra forming the Shiva-Shakti.
When Shiva himself being the almighty who grants Kaivalya by keeping the soul with himself(union) and not giving it back to Brahma for re-creation(samsara) meditates, always a question rises as to why the almighty himself meditates, what is the necessity?
Actually, it has been said that the almighty said in the begining of the creation, ekam eko anekaha( Let me become many)...he became everything(sarvam eeshwara mayam)...but where did he create this world...where is that factory that created so much material to build this universe...where was all this material before the big bang...where was it parked...what sorrounded it....who held it...what was displaced to accomodate it...the answers are nil......but the answer is in the description of the almighty himself....if it was only he who was there before the creation, during the creation and after the creation then all this creation is an illusion or maya. But this maya also called Vishnu Maya is a sustainance. This sustainance is possible only during a dream state(turiya avasta) or the kalpavriksha state(ie; whatever we think becomes true or gets executed). Shiva in his universal dream extending all permutations and combinations created this universe of all possibilities. In such a permutation and combination of illusion, life also existed. The illusion or maya exists and does not exists at the same time. This is because a dream is a reality till it is dreamt and becomes a mist when one is awake. But both dream and reality is based on experience and hence looks real.
Ultimately there is no difference between the dream and the dreamer. The dreamer becomes the dream.Hence in this divine dream everything we see and feel and even ourselves is nothing but Shiva himself.Hence AHAM BRAHMASMI.

Dear Friend,
I am seeing this post very late. Any way let us move directly to your question.

Shiva alongwith Vishnu and Brahma as per our Hindu conception are only lords who have been assigned duties of Destruction, Parenthood and Creation respectively by the ultimate lord or the Parabrahma. Parabrahma was alone at begining of this universe which you can call Shiva. But this Shiva is different from what we view Shiva i.e. swami of destruction or one wares elephant leather, wares cobras around neck alongwith rudraksha mala. This Shiva or Parabrahma is nothing but simple tej or energy as you may call it. It do not have any shape size or no characters. This you can as almighty.

So the Shiva who wares cobra around his neck is the creation of Shiva or even HE is called Param-Shiva. And the Lord of Desruction Shiva was firstly created at begining of this Universe. So this Shiva is a part of this Maya as you call it. He have fixed life span and he is having a definite end. But we at human level even can not imagine about his life span and his end.

This Shiva meditates Param Shiva in Samadhi. Or even it is said that Lord Ramchandra is the Guru of Lord Shiva. Here when Lord Rama is mentioned Ayodhyapati Ram is not be taken, but here Lord Ram is no one but Parabrahma or even it can be called as Param-Shiva. While in samadhi Lord Shiva meditates & gains power to run this universe, and for his future when at ultimate end he will have to finish himself and will get united with the Parabrahma.

I think it may be clear to you and all others , and I hope you beleive in this.

U are mistaken.

SHIVA does'nt have any dreams.SHIVA means SATYAM(reality) & SUNDARAM.Where there
is reality there is no dream.SHIVA is infinite knower of himself. That's why he meditates for ever.
